About The Artist

Sally Louise Polk (she/they)

I like to describe myself as an artist in the way that, if I put my mind to something, I can make it-- it probably won't be the conventional way and it'll look kinda wild, but I'll figure it out. This is my attitude towards making something, take away the pressure of prestige and just go for it.

My main mediums are metal, fiber and resin. I come from a family of artists, musicians and tinkerers so I grew up fussing with art projects, singing to myself under my breath.

Fussy Louise is Sally Louise Polk (she/they) a queer fat artist living on Lenape Land, also known as Pittsburgh, by way of Tennessee and Ohio. My mother is an artist and my father is an engineer so I grew up beading, sewing, fixing, mending.

I've spent the past 15 years organizing and performing in DIY scenes in places like California, Tennessee, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Vermont. I perform as Thunder Thighs, a solo act that often lends itself to other collaborations and performance art endeavors. I have been selling jewelry off and on for years but have only recently began to chase my dream of living my life as an full time artist.

I am very invested in a sense of community and building creative spaces that are accessible.
